What’s in this release
- Security: Go runtime updated to include fixes from Go 1.26.6 and protections added to make DNS-over-QUIC more resistant to resource exhaustion (GHSA-w6v6-f44j-3rj2), credited to @ATinyShoe.
- HTTP API and bootstrap improvements: bootstrap servers config now supports comments; new “language” property added to POST /control/install/check_config and POST /control/install/configure; HTTP API can now remove a static lease’s hostname.
- Edge channel and configuration changes: the “edge” channel has moved to the new UI with a revised versioning scheme, and the configuration option “strict_sni_check” is marked as deprecated.
- DNS fixes: corrected DNS64 behaviour that treated unresolved CNAME/DNAME answers as the end of the resolution chain (issue #7514) and fixed blocked requests that lacked an EDNS(0) OPT record (issue #8183).
Upgrade notes
- “strict_sni_check” is deprecated — check your configuration and remove or replace uses of that option where appropriate.
- If you need to revert, use the previous release tag on GitHub to roll back to an earlier version.
