ESPHome | 2026.7.1

ESPHome 2026.7.1 released on 20-07-2026

ESPHome 2026.7.1 is out now. Fixes across sensors, displays and build tooling improve reading accuracy and make builds and toolchains more resilient for users.

See the release on the project’s GitHub for full details and upgrade instructions.

What’s in this release

  • Sensor and component fixes: emc2101 now reports negative external temperatures correctly; Haier climate outdoor defrost reports the correct coil temperature; AS3935 I²C reads use a repeated-start; SSD1306 driver honours offset_x on SH1106/SH1107 displays; light component pulse and other effects fixed; micro_wake_word bundles local model files and downloads models in parallel.
  • Build, SDK and toolchain updates: bundled esphome-device-builder bumped several times; ESP32 now recommends ESP‑IDF 5.5.5 and Arduino 3.3.10; PlatformIO toolchain Python packages installed into a dedicated venv; interrupted toolchain downloads can resume; openocd-esp32 made optional to avoid broken installs.
  • Core, network, HTTP and logs stability: improved framework mirror selection, download/error handling and version parsing; HTTP IDF backend fixes and a digest-auth fix that restores Arduino builds; logs reconnect backoff capped for deep‑sleep devices; WireGuard private keys now marked sensitive.

Upgrade notes

  • If you build for ESP32, upgrade your ESP‑IDF to 5.5.5 and Arduino to 3.3.10 before flashing to avoid toolchain mismatches.
  • No special migration steps are required for device configurations; if you need to roll back, install the previous release from the project’s GitHub release page.

Try the update and share how it behaves in your setup — bug reports and feedback on the GitHub tracker help catch any remaining edge cases.
