ESPHome | 2026.7.3

ESPHome 2026.7.3 released on 28-07-2026

ESPHome 2026.7.3 is out now. It brings updated esphome-device-builder tooling and a set of fixes that improve native ESP-IDF builds, ESP32 BLE event handling, Wi‑Fi/captive portal behaviour and toolchain cloning.

See the ESPHome GitHub release notes for full details and links to the individual pull requests.

What’s in this release

  • Bundled esphome-device-builder bumped (updates to 1.6.10 and 1.7.0) to refresh the device build tooling used during firmware creation and packaging.
  • ESP-IDF build and ESP32 BLE fixes: the native ESP-IDF backend now honours compile_process_limit, the app source glob includes .cc, .cxx and .c++ files, and the esp32_ble code forwards ESP_GAP_BLE_SCAN_RSP_DATA_RAW_SET_COMPLETE_EVT to GAP handlers.
  • Wi‑Fi/captive portal and git/toolchain fixes: scan results are locked when used by the captive portal web task, SSIDs are escaped when building captive portal JSON, and a git/toolchain fix prevents submodule update failures when cloning libraries on the esp-idf toolchain.

Upgrade notes

  • Breaking change: the ENC28J60 Ethernet driver now sets the SPI chip-select (CS) hold time. Users with ENC28J60 hardware should verify timing and update related code or configuration as needed.
  • If you need to revert, downgrade to the previous ESPHome release using your normal update mechanism or package manager.
