ESPHome 2026.7.4 released on 05-08-2026

ESPHome 2026.7.4 is out now. Users building firmware and managing git-based components will see dependency and device-builder bumps, fixes for race conditions during git-based resolutions, and tightened ESP32 validation for more predictable builds.

Visit the ESPHome GitHub release notes for the full changelog and upgrade details.

What’s in this release

  • Dependency bumps: filelock 3.29.0 → 3.32.0, platformdirs 4.10.0 → 4.11.0, and the bundled esphome-device-builder stepped from 1.8.0 up through 1.9.2.
  • Fix for device adoption races: the git clone cache is now locked to prevent failures on the first attempt when multiple concurrent git-based component resolutions occur.
  • ESP32 and stability fixes: toolchain validation restricted to supported values and BLE 5.0 explicitly disabled for ESP32 builds; plus fixes including an API double-free, epaper_spi init defaulting to an empty sequence, and espidf emitting CMakeLists with forward slashes.

Upgrade notes

  • No configuration changes are required to pick up these fixes; if you build ESP32 targets, review your toolchain settings since validation is now stricter and BLE 5.0 is disabled for affected toolchains.
  • If you need to revert, pin to the previous release or to earlier bundled device-builder versions until you can validate behaviour in your environment.

Please share comments or any issues you encounter on the ESPHome GitHub so maintainers and the community can follow up on behaviour in real-world setups.
