ESPHome | 2026.8.2

ESPHome 2026.8.2 released on 31-08-2026

ESPHome 2026.8.2 is out now. It makes the ESP-IDF integration trigger a reconfigure step when components are discovered at runtime so newly discovered components are configured immediately instead of waiting for a restart.

See the ESPHome GitHub release for full details and the downloadable packages.

What’s in this release

  • espidf: Always reconfigure after component discovery so runtime-detected components are configured straight away (no restart required).
  • GPIO/OneWire and mDNS reliability fixes: a OneWire reset fix prevents a busy-wait when interrupts are off and delay wraps, and mDNS now skips MDNS.update() while the ESP8266 radio cannot transmit to avoid blocked MDNS activity.
  • http_request (ESP32): watchdog_timeout now defaults to the configured timeout when not provided, preventing unexpected watchdog behaviour for HTTP requests.

Upgrade notes

  • Impact is mostly transparent to users — upgrade to apply the fixes; no configuration changes are required.
  • Release notes list no breaking changes; if you need to revert for any reason, use your usual rollback or flashing procedure.

Try the update and share comments on your experience on the project’s GitHub or in the community; reports from real devices help catch edge cases.
