Flux | v2.9.4

Flux v2.9.4 released on 07-08-2026

Flux v2.9.4 is out now. It’s a targeted patch with multiple controller fixes and CLI updates, and it includes CRD schema changes for ArtifactGenerator and ImageUpdateAutomation that must be applied alongside the controllers.

See the upgrade procedure and the full changelog on Flux’s GitHub for details and step‑by‑step guidance: Upgrade Procedure for Flux v2.7+ and Full Changelog.

What’s in this release

  • CRD schema changes for ArtifactGenerator and ImageUpdateAutomation — both CRDs must be updated along with their controllers.
  • Source-controller and source-watcher fixes: confined tarball extraction and bounded glob expansion, Helm repository index loading aligned with Helm v4, OCI chart verification pinned by digest, improved Bucket reconciliation error handling, and limiting GCS static authentication to service account keys.
  • Image automation and reflection hardening: image-automation-controller disallows force-update and deletion via unsafe refspecs; fluxcd/pkg dependency updates align ECR host detection across components.

Upgrade notes

  • CRD schema changes are breaking: update ArtifactGenerator and ImageUpdateAutomation CRDs together with the controllers. Follow the Upgrade Procedure for Flux v2.7+ for a smooth transition from v2.6.
  • If you need to roll back, check the component version matrix in the full changelog to match controller and CRD versions.
