Gitea | v1.27.2

Gitea v1.27.2 released on 13-08-2026

Gitea v1.27.2 is out now. It delivers security and authentication fixes, workflow reliability improvements and a range of markup, rendering and storage bugfixes that reduce information-disclosure risk and improve workflow correctness.

See the project’s GitHub release notes or the official Gitea site for the full changelog and detailed upgrade instructions.

What’s in this release

  • Security and authentication: correct collaborator access mode and httpsign handling, and make WebAuthn user verification configurable per request.
  • Actions and workflow reliability: resolve pull_request_target reusable workflows at the base commit, keep github.event.inputs as strings for workflow_dispatch and allow reruns of selected jobs to read artifacts from a previous attempt.
  • Markup, rendering and UI: refactor external and markup rendering, fix highlight language and markdown quirks, and several small UI fixes including default browser underline styles and corrected avatar stack participant counts.

Upgrade notes

  • No breaking changes are listed in the release notes; review the full release notes on the project’s repository before upgrading.
  • Instances on Gitea Cloud will be upgraded automatically during the specified maintenance window; self-hosted instances should follow their usual upgrade and backup procedures.

Share any issues or observations after upgrading — community feedback helps catch regressions and edge cases others may encounter.
