n8n n8n@2.40.7 released on 25-09-2026

n8n n8n@2.40.7 is out now. It fixes an observability bug so project-level span attributes are propagated to individual node spans, restoring project context on node-level traces and improving trace correlation and debugging.

See the release on GitHub for full details and the compare view: compare changes.

What’s in this release

  • Propagate project span attributes to node spans (fixes issue #39457; commit 59fccb6).
  • Node-level spans now retain project context, improving trace correlation, debugging and telemetry completeness across workflows.
  • No functional workflow changes — this is an internal tracing/observability fix only.

Upgrade notes

  • Non-breaking: update to n8n@2.40.7 (Docker image or package), restart n8n instances and validate tracing by running workflows and inspecting spans in your tracing backend (OpenTelemetry/Jaeger/Zipkin).
  • If you see environment-specific issues while investigating traces, roll back to 2.40.6.

Share any observations or problems on the release page or the linked GitHub issue so maintainers and other users can compare notes.
