paperless-ngx | v3.1.0

paperless-ngx v3.1.0 released on 27-08-2026

paperless-ngx v3.1.0 is out now. It brings AI-focused workflow automation, tighter OCR and remote-parser behaviour, and a range of UI and reliability fixes to make automated classification, exports and mobile use more dependable.

See the release notes on the project’s GitHub for full details and installation instructions.

What’s in this release

  • AI and workflow automation: a new “Apply AI suggestions” workflow action to accept AI-proposed metadata and classifications; AI suggestions now prefer existing tags, types, correspondents and storage paths; paperless_ai prompts have been refactored to Jinja2 templates and an AI chat refine template is specified; documentation/wiki links added for AI features and parser plugins.
  • OCR and remote parser improvements: selective use of remote OCR engines is supported; the remote OCR parser now respects the global OCR mode setting; remote OCR failures now raise a ParseError instead of silently continuing; documentation clarifies default OCR mode changes in v3.
  • UI, mobile and saved-views polish: welcome widget and general v3 UI tweaks; customizable icons for saved views, a count badge on the versions dropdown and pagination for saved views management; multiple mobile fixes and small accessibility/visual bug fixes.

Upgrade notes

  • Remote OCR now raises a ParseError on failure — review parser configurations and workflows that relied on silent fallbacks and update error handling where needed; consult the release notes and wiki links for guidance.
  • The release includes numerous dependency updates, including an upgraded Docker image to Python 3.14 — test custom integrations and rebuild any images before upgrading production deployments.
