paperless-ngx | v3.1.3

paperless-ngx v3.1.3 released on 04-09-2026

paperless-ngx v3.1.3 is out now. It fixes multiple front-end UX issues, tightens AI and chat behaviour with document metadata, and includes backend reliability fixes plus dependency and security updates to improve overall stability.

See the project’s GitHub release notes for the full list of fixes, dependency bumps and security hardening.

What’s in this release

  • UI and sidebar polish: task-page header now shows a loading indicator, sidebar sizing animation and slim-sidebar saved-view dragging appearance are corrected, long words in dropdowns are wrapped, and small CSS cleanups were applied.
  • AI, chat and metadata improvements: ensure AI suggestions run after a document is created, unrestricted chat users skip the vector-store document-id filter, filename generation uses root document metadata, and a minor tweak to the tool-calling localization prompt.
  • Backend resilience and dependencies: fixes for failures when enqueuing files, Celery mail-task chord errors, correct request-stream adoption when pinning an outbound host, consolidation of pickle HMAC signing, dependency bumps (nginx, greenmail, djangorestframework, nltk, frontend Angular packages, postcss-selector-parser and others) and remote OCR endpoint validation.

Upgrade notes

  • No breaking changes are listed in the release notes; test the upgrade in a staging environment and follow the GitHub release for any platform-specific instructions.
  • If you need to roll back, use your normal rollback procedure and report any regressions on the project’s GitHub so maintainers can follow up.

Share feedback or issues via the project’s GitHub issue tracker or discussion channels so maintainers can prioritise follow-ups and fixes.
