paperless-ngx | v3.2.1

paperless-ngx v3.2.1 released on 20-09-2026

paperless-ngx v3.2.1 is out now. It fixes several operational issues — including conditional handling of Flower’s –conf argument, a more robust mail-fetch locking mechanism, an ocrmypdf upgrade to address ligature OCR problems, and automatic rebuilding of missing Tantivy search index files.

See the release notes on the project’s GitHub for the full changelog and any deployment guidance.

What’s in this release

  • Flower: only pass –conf to Flower when a flowerconfig.py file exists, preventing startup errors or misconfiguration when no custom config is present.
  • Mail fetching: replaces the stale overlap check with a self‑expiring lock to avoid blocked or overlapping mail-fetch jobs caused by stale state.
  • OCR: ocrmypdf bumped to 17.12 to pick up a ligature text-layer fix, improving text extraction for documents containing ligatures.
  • Search: automatically rebuilds the Tantivy search index when required index files are missing to prevent broken search functionality.
  • Dependencies: anyio updated from 4.12.1 to 4.14.2 in the uv group as part of routine dependency maintenance.

Upgrade notes

  • Flower configuration behaviour has changed — if you expect Flower to use a custom config, ensure a flowerconfig.py file is present in your deployment so the –conf argument will be passed.
  • There are no special rollback steps documented for this release; if you need to revert, follow your usual rollback procedure for the project.
