Telegraf v1.40.1 released on 21-09-2026

Telegraf v1.40.1 is out now. It fixes a range of plugin and core issues to reduce data duplication, parsing errors, iterator/resume failures and malformed metric values.
See the project’s GitHub release page for the full changelog and downloads; built artifacts and SHA256 checksums are available from dl.influxdata.com/telegraf/releases.
What’s in this release
- Core and input/processor bugfixes: prevents duplicate aggregator pushes on early timer fires; parses vsock CID/port correctly in common.socket; restores correct defaults for inputs.dns_query; ensures inputs.kinesis_consumer resumes expired iterators; respects server MaxNodesPerRegisterNodes in inputs.opcua; adds bounds checking in inputs.opentelemetry; decodes float values for gauges and counters in inputs.vault; caches reverse DNS answers containing invalid PTR names.
- Output plugin fixes: outputs.amqp now recreates client configuration to allow reconnects; outputs.kafka has sensible timeout defaults; outputs.parquet lets a field take precedence over a tag and supports rotating files based on the age of the open file.
- Dependencies and packages: multiple dependency updates across cloud SDKs, drivers and Go modules (including cloud.google.com/go, apache/arrow-go, elastic/go-elasticsearch, go-sql-driver/mysql, moby client/api, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry libraries, and aws-sdk-go-v2 updates); google.golang.org/grpc was downgraded to 1.84.0. Release artifacts for many platforms and architectures are provided with SHA256 checksums.
Upgrade notes
- No breaking changes are listed in the changelog, but test compatibility when upgrading due to the wide set of dependency updates (notably the aws-sdk-go-v2 group and the gRPC version change).
- To roll back, install the previous release binaries; artifacts and checksums are available from dl.influxdata.com/telegraf/releases if you need to revert.
