What’s in this release
- Embedded Kubernetes upgraded to v1.37.2 and a broad set of bundled component bumps: Kine v0.17.1, Etcd v3.7.1-k3s3, Containerd v2.3.7-k3s1, Runc v1.4.2, Flannel v0.28.10, CoreDNS v1.14.7, metrics-server v0.9.0, Helm-controller and local-path-provisioner updates.
- Traefik and Gateway API updates: Traefik moved within the 3.7.x series (embedded table shows v3.7.15) and the Kubernetes Gateway API CRD/gateway-api were added or bumped to the 1.6.x series.
- Backports and bug fixes from October 2026, including waiting 60s for a default route to prevent systemd restart loops, excluding kms-providers from apiserver readiness checks, clarifying etcd snapshot retention flags, fixing local-path PV deletion with SELinux enforcing, introducing etcd snapshot restrictions, reporting image-list read errors when pre-pulling images, and several CI and test improvements.
Upgrade notes
- No explicit breaking changes are listed; if you use etcd snapshots or S3 retention, review the clarified snapshot retention flags and the new etcd snapshot restrictions in the release notes before upgrading.
- Rollback: the release notes do not specify special rollback procedures — follow your standard upgrade and rollback practices and open an issue on the k3s GitHub if you encounter problems.
